The P2-solo sequencer
The P2 Solo, from Oxford Nanopore Technologies, is a sequencer that uses nanopore sequencing technology, like the Minion sequencers already in use at DTAMB.
The P2 Solo works with PromethION flowcells. A PromethION flowcell can generate up to 100-200 Gb of sequencing data from genomic DNA. These flowcells contain up to 2,675 pores for sequencing, which is about five times more than MinION flowcells.
The P2 Solo is a small benchtop device designed to run up to two PromethION flowcells.
Applications:
Sequencing of eukaryotic or bacterial genomes
Sequencing of genomes of several Gb (up to ~3 Gb)
Sequencing of long amplicons (10-30 kb, mitochondria, etc.)
RNA sequencing (RNA-seq, structural variants, etc.)
