At the end of 2024, DTAMB acquired a microbead agitation grinding and lysis system, the FastPrep-24™ 5G, from MP Biomedicals.
Technical specifications:
Time range: 1 to 120 seconds in 1-second increments (default: 40 seconds)
Speed range: 4 to 10 m/s in increments of 0.5 m/s (default: 6 m/s for the QuickPrep-3 adapter)
Cycles: 1 to 9 cycles (default: 1 cycle)
The FastPrep-24™ has two types of interchangeable adapters for holding tubes: the QuickPrep-3, which comes with the grinder, and CoolPrep (Cryogenic), which allows tubes to be stored in dry ice.
Capacity: 24 samples – Sample volume: ∼ 200 μl
